UAS Poster

This week in class we had the opportunity to create a poster representing Unmanned Aerial Systems in class. My role in this process was the facilitator, taking in ideas, compiling them on the whiteboard, and organizing them onto the template on the computer to make the final poster.

We had various themes we thought to go with for the class poster, but we decided to focus on "Why UAS?" Purdue University's School of Aviation and Transportation Technology (SATT) has four degree paths you can take as a student. Professional Flight Technology, Aeronautical Engineering Technology, Aviation Management, and Unmanned Aerial Systems. Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) is a fairly new degree path, and we wanted to inform students in SATT as to what we actually do in the UAS program, as well as inform prospective and incoming students and their parents as to what we do with UAS.

As a class, we included products of some of our research and data collection. We had sections on search and rescue software in testing, high resolution 3D models that classmates have created, as well as high resolution multi-patch models. We also touched on thermal imagery applications, as well as volumetrics and other orthomosaics. All of these products stem from different uses for UAS technology, and we really wanted to showcase the capabilities of the technology, as well as highlight how useful unmanned platforms can be.

Below is the poster we created for class:
